The Importance of an Inventory Management System

Thousands of North Dakota State University fans are heading over 1,000 miles south to Frisco, Texas to cheer on the Bison as they try for their fifth straight FCS championship. Piling into cars, vans and buses, many have already hit the road to Frisco, leaving behind a surprise winter storm that dumped over a foot of snow in some places in the valley.

Flights to Frisco from Hector International Airport have been cancelled or delayed, not because of the snow, but because Delta ran out of de-icing fluid, leaving the planes temporarily grounded until additional fluid could be brought in.

With Microsoft Dynamics GP’s inventory control features, businesses and facilities can continuously monitor inventory stock levels and costs, eliminating the possibility of running out of essential products. This feature also provides alternate vendor options and serial/lot tracking with codes.

The PO Generator automates purchasing by generating a suggested purchase order based on number of items in stock and past order trends. This process automatically ensures you never run out of the materials you need to get the job done. The suggested PO is placed when the correct approvers look over the order, make any necessary changes and confirm the purchase. With tolerance handling, you have the ability to receive items within a threshold percent of the purchase order for more flexible receiving and better purchase order management.

Putting Microsoft Dynamics GP into place and relying on its advanced inventory control features ensures that your business or facility will always have the stock that you need to get the job done.
